Hi Beautiful Writerly People
Firstly, thank you to those of you who have already submitted to the anthology. It’s exciting to see so many talented writers submitting, and getting in early.
To those who would like to submit but are struggling with the deadline (I know there are more than a few of you!), you will be pleased to know that the deadline has been extended.
New deadline: Friday 4th April
Word count – 3000 words is a guideline
Several writers have asked me whether they can submit longer pieces. The answer is yes, you can. Within reason. We want this anthology to be a collection of the best writers from the PhD and Masters programs, and we won’t be finicky about the word count. 3000 is a guideline. If you have a stunning piece of writing that fits the theme and it goes over 3000 words, please send it in anyway. We will consider it within the context of the other submissions.
All other submission details are the same, please refer to the Beauty Anthology page on this blog for further info.
Planning and plotting and publicising…
Anna Solding and I are working away in the background, trying to give this collection the biggest, most beautiful life we possibly can. We are applying for grants and submitting proposals to writing festivals for our writers to appear on panels. We are plotting and planning publicity angles and doing everything we can to get your writing the exposure it deserves. We have high hopes and big plans. As news unfolds, we will announce it in the blog, so stay tuned for exciting developments.
What is your story about?
Finally, a note on the stories…
I’d really love to see submissions that are concerned with non-physical beauty. Please think broadly about the idea of beauty – look beyond physical interpretations of the idea.
I look forward to reading your stories!
